How to install the aerial antenna.....
|
STEP 1: Assemble the antenna itself first by attaching the 7
elements. The three pronged fork like antenna is screwed on
top of the antenna shaft. The smallest element is screwed
on the center top of the antenna, while the rest are screwed
below alternating long and short planes (see picture on the
right). One end of the cable is fitted with a cable jack that
should be connected to the back of the base unit.
STEP 2: Find a pole that is at least 5 meters long (16.5 ft)
and 25-39mm (1 - 1.5 in) in diameter. If you will use a metal
pole, attach a plastic or wooden pole at the end were you will
clamp the antenna shaft. Never clamp the antenna to a metal
pole. This is to avoid grounding. If grounding occurs, unit will
malfunction and range will be greatly diminished.
(see picture below).
No metal part of the antenna should touch your metal pole. Electric tape is not
advised, as a thicker insulator is required. Also, the clamp may eventually cut through
the electric tape.
STEP 3: Make a loop with the cable before pulling the
remaining cable into the house. The loop can prevent any
rain from going into the house. See picture on the left for
the completed assembly.
STEP 4: Put up your antenna on top of your roof and
secure it very well with guide wires (see picture below).
Make sure your installation is weather proof. Consider
factors such as storms, snow or strong winds that may
cause your antenna to collapse. If you intend to put up a
very high antenna, you may wish to consider building a
tower for it. A co-ax cable extension with complete
connectors are also available.

- The height of your antenna will greatly influence the
range. So mount it as high as possible and as free from
obstruction as possible.
- Make sure your antenna is at least 3 meters above the
ground (or your roof). If usable range is inadequate,
increase height of antenna.
- There should be no obstructions within 5 meters from the
antenna, such as a water tank, chimney, etc.
- straighten the cable as bending of the cable cord may
decrease the transmission power
- make sure no metal parts of the antenna will touch the
metal pole to avoid grounding
- make a loop in your cable to prevent any rain from going
into the house
